When our mother, Mary North Allen, died in 2011 she left behind several drafts of an unfinished manuscript of her memoir and box upon box of prints of her photographs.  We each had our own  explanations for wanting to see a finished publication.  In the end it boils down to two things:
  1. We really wanted to see it completed for ourselves individually, for our extended family and friends, and for our mother; and
  2. We all have a sense the stories she tells in beautiful words and photographs carry something universal in them, something that perhaps speaks to the struggles, celebrations, and lives of others as well as those of our own family.  We invite you to explore and see if there is something here that speaks to you.
